It’s always exciting to hear that friend is getting a new car. It’s a big moment and cause for congratulations regardless, but when the car in particular is a model dear to your own heart, it’s hard to not be just a little bit more excited.

It wasn’t too long ago now that Yolanda picked up a Focus ST for herself and she has certainly been enjoying it, but more recently another friend of mine (Robin) bought one as well. I knew that he had been thinking about one so when he sent me a message last week saying “guess what” I knew immediately what he had done. Sure enough, he had just taken delivery of a brand new 2017 Focus ST!

I was able to very briefly meet up with him earlier this week to see the car in person and it was easy to tell he was of course very excited about his new pride and joy, and new it was – at the time of my visit it only had about 150 kilometers on the clock!

He specifically opted for a Kona Blue Metallic example, and I have to say the colour really suits the ST well. I like how it makes the ST more subtle, and doesn’t scream at you for attention – but when the sun hits it, it really pops.

Being a Canadian car it’s loaded with features and technology, as nearly all of the items that are optional in other markets are standard on the STs here; HID headlights, full leather Recaros, Sync 3, dual zone climate control, moonroof, carbon fiber interior accents…you get the idea.

One thing that is an option however, is the set of machined aluminum wheels (complete with the red calipers in behind). The wheels’ faces offer a nice contrast to the darker exterior and the red ties in to the various other red accents around the car.

Naturally, mod ideas are already forming so I’m sure it’ll be getting personalized a bit before too long, but it’s of course a great car out of the box will provide plenty of fun for him during his daily commute.
