On Tuesday evenings a gathering of European cars takes place at the Marda Loop Safeway, and having seen photos from prior weeks it’s safe to say a lot of seriously impressive cars can be seen at these meets. I had heard that a LaFerrari had even shown up (my personal favourite of the new hypercar trio) so last week I decided I’d made my way over to check things out for myself.
When I arrived I managed to turn the heads of most of the people already at the meet, because the Focus’ splitter scraped as I entered. Whoops! Once parked I picked up a coffee from the Starbucks and then went to check out the cars that had arrived. I really enjoy attending Grey Eagle each week but it was fun to try something new and see the different selection of vehicles that came out. I hope to attend some more this season and see what else shows up! For now though, here are some photos from last week’s meet.
Why not kick things off with this gorgeous Alfa? This one drew a lot of attention all night.
This Audi RS5 looked rather good on its red HREs.
Porsche seemed to be the most common make at the meet with various models and generations on hand.
One car I had trouble taking my eyes off of was this LSB M3. The bumpers had just been repainted which is why the reflectors are missing here.
Parked next to it was this dumped Mk6 GTI.
I thought my car would be really out-of-place but it wasn’t alone for long as Rob showed up with his ST. There was also the white Fiesta ST next to us which will make a proper appearance in a photo later on.
My favourite from the trio of Lamborghinis was probably this green Gallardo, as I feel this is the best colour for them. In the background of this shot you can see a group of Evos that came out as well.
There’s the Fiesta! Team Condiments had a couple of substitutes this time around.
Brett’s bonkers CTS-V showed up and airred down.
I don’t see many of these older 7 series around so seeing a modified example (in person) was something new.
I have ridden in this particular X5M before and it is fast to say the least – they’re already nuts in stock form but this one isn’t quite in factory spec…
Not surprisingly, despite there being Lamborghinis and Ferraris present, the car that really drew my attention was an S15. It arrived later in the evening along with a trio of RX-7s…
…one of which happened to be Mike’s. I didn’t see where he went but wandered over to admire his FD.
This E55 AMG had to be – by far – the loudest vehicle at the meet. When it left, I’m sure everyone in Marda Loop heard it.
The last shot for the post tonight is of this chrome Cobra which was one of the last to arrive before I headed out. Fortunately it was in the shade otherwise looking at it may have been painful!
Overall it was a fun night and I’m glad I went. I was able to see some new cars, meet new people, and experience more of what Calgary’s car community has to offer. As I said at the start I do now hope to attend some more of these meets this season and see what other vehicles appear. Who knows, maybe I’ll find that LaFerrari.
