October 21st, 2015 – For fans of the Back to the Future movies like myself, this is a rather significant date. Today is the day that Doc, Marty, and Jennifer traveled to at the start of the second movie.
The Back to the Future movies are some of my all-time favourites and I have been (im)patiently waiting for this day to finally arrive. I clearly remember the first time I watched the second Back to the Future, because I was so excited to see what their vision of 2015 was. Over the last little while, with the day getting closer I couldn’t help but be excited. Did I expect Hoverboards and flying cars to suddenly exist? No. Rather, I was looking forward to this day as it would be the time to give a nod to the famous trilogy and maybe sit down and re watch the second one for fun.
I had been wanting to do something to mark the occasion and started brainstorming ideas recently. Last week this one came to me – it’d be simple, easy to do, and fun at the same time. I decided I wanted to capture the sedan at this moment in time with a quick photo shoot, but there was one important detail I wanted in place to link this to the movie. I made up some fake license plates to match those seen in BTTF’s vision of 2015 (identical to the movie’s design save for replacing “California” with “Alberta”) and stuck them on. Job done.
So here it is – a fun little photo shoot in a new-to-me location, taking advantage of the nice weather we’re still enjoying, which references one of my all-time favourite movies. But, I did include one last small detail.
To go a step further, I’m not just sharing these photos today, which I took today, but I scheduled this post to go live at exactly 5:29PM Calgary time because the trio arrived in 2015 at 4:29PM in their time zone. Yeah, I may have been geeking out a little (okay, a lot) about today but I’m not ashamed of that. Haha. Happy Back to the Future Day!
